Ipsy Glambag June 2017

15 Jun

It’s here!

My monthly sparkle of joy. These glambag designs only get cuter and cuter, as you can witness in this month’s theme Volume Up.

I can tell you that, from experience, Ipsy is by far one of the best makeup subscriptions out there that will bring a lot of bang to your buck, as you pay only $10 for a bag of stuff that is worth much more. What’s even better is that some of the items are full sized.

So, keep it up, Ipsy. You’re going far.

1. Kokie Cosmetics Nail Polish in Atlantis at Last

img_9178

This was the highlight of this month’s bag. Since the beginning of time, I’ve been so used to selecting corals and nudes as my go-to colors that I forgot what’s even edgy anymore. Then comes this color. It’s going to be a unique touch to my nail polish collection. Why? Because this is the first cobalt blue I’ll ever own. And I’ll cherish it from the bottom of my nail beds.

2.Vasanti Cosmetics Lipgloss in Super Mom

img_9180

Move over red lipstick, the Nudes are taking over. When I saw this in my bag, I couldn’t have been happier. I mean, just lkghjtwfe look at that pretty shade! I’m sure this will collaborate well with my complexion because it’s neither too light nor too dark.

3. The Balm Cosmetics Balm Springs Blush

img_9179

Next up is a blush from theBalm that boasts a 12-hour coverage. The shade is more on the rosy side and would be more suitable for paler complexions. The packaging follows their cute matchbox design with a magnetic shut mechanism. I’m still quite ambivalent about this product and it would take a few wears for me to fully make a decision.

4. Doucce Maxlash Volumizer Mascara

img_9181

Yay! Another mascara. I mean, literally… another mascara. I’m not saying that this is another horrible addition to my stash of regular mascaras. It just takes more to wow me when it comes to mascaras because every single one of them does the same waterproof, volumizing thing.

5. SPF Rx Ultra-Clear Daily Skin Hydrator with SPF 50

img_9182

Last but not least, a moisturizer with SPF, which is great for wearing underneath your makeup as a primer! One of the problems I have with foundations is that very few of them are equipped with SPF. And those that are are usually very costly–around $70 or more. Therefore, I have apply a layer of sunscreen prior to foundation every morning. I’m just so glad that this product is going to become part of that ritual 🙂

As a bonus, I will include a picture of Butter to thank you all for taking the time to read my post. Until next time!

Ipsy Glambag May 2017

14 May

The May glambag–equipped with a summer theme–can’t get any better! Ever since I’ve been reviewing my monthly items on the Ipsy website, I’ve been receiving products that are better suited to my interests. So, if you’re tempted to skip over that email asking you to review your bag

Don’t!

The more feedback you provide them, the better they become at tailoring your monthly bags to your beauty profile.

Without further ado,

1. Pacifica Island Life Eyeshadow Palette

img_8888

The first thing that caught my eye was this small palette with beautiful neutral, copper and gold colors, which would be perfect for everyday wear. It even comes with an applicator. I can definitely see this item in my travel bag. A great portable pick!

2. Adesse New York Nail Lacquer in Surfer Girl

img_8889

Next up, a cute nail color ideal for the summer. I’ve had experience with this brand before (in a different color) and I have to say that the nail polish does stay put! And the only reason for removal is that my nails were growing out of it. Other than that, it did stay on, without signs of chipping or flaking.

3. Manna Kadar Cosmetics Radiance Split Pan Bronzer/Highlighter Duo

img_8890

This is the first time I’ve encountered this brand. I haven’t been much of a highlighter person until recently, when I discovered that glow does eliminate years off your face. So, I’m excited to try on this product. Expect it to hit pan soon.

4. Mellow Cosmetics Creamy Matte Lipstick in Posh

img_8891

Who can say NO to lipstick? You just don’t say no to lipstick, especially when it’s in a perfect nude shade, which is what I received here. The lipstick came in one of two colors this month: Nude or Posh. The latter came in my bag. Another thing I like about this product is the detail. If you look closely, you can see the mellow engraving on the side of the lipstick.

5. Luxie Beauty Dreamcatcher Precision Foundation Brush 660

img_8887

Last but not least, I got a foundation brush. I’m already familiar with the brand Luxie since I received a pink angled brush from them in a previous glambag. I find that applying foundation is done best with a sponge (Beautyblenders, etc) because brushes tend to leave streaks on your face, whereas the porous surface on the sponge is too minuscule for that effect. Therefore, I’ll use this brush for bronzers and highlighters.

Ipsy Subscription October, 2016

15 Oct

The darkened brown leaves not only shuffle in the light breeze but also whistle a tune that rings true throughout the autumn air: Fall has arrived, opening the door to one of the best times of the year, Halloween!

Yes, and what better way to celebrate than receiving that pink package on my door that gives me a feeling as high as the checkout aisle in Sephora – you know, the one lined with travel sized value sets that sucks the life force out of your wallet.

Moving on…

img_7608

Ipsy has moved over to the cute side this month by adopting the theme “Black Magic,” which emphasizes on a Gothic tone relatable to the ghoulish personality of October. The bag is a light pink color adorned with black cats and witches that very much reminds me of Kiki’s Delivery Service.

1. Teeez Cosmetics Eve’s Ready to Wear Lipstick in Romantic Red

img_7610

Bold and red like the apple that sent Snow White to her temporary grave, this lipstick is a vibrant addition to my collection of reds. The packaging is really impressive too, with the clear parts giving off an impression of glass. The colorful design also makes it one of a kind.

2. NUDESTIX Concealer Pencil in Light

img_7612

Next is this pencil that pretends to be a concealer when it’s really not. Although it has a creamy formula and applies smoothly, it doesn’t offer much coverage for blemishes and spots. However, all is not lost because this product makes a great highlighter for the brow-bone and beneath the eyes. When applied under the brows, it really makes your eyes pop.

3. Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper

img_7613

I believe that I’m destined to own this product because this is the third time I’ve received this eyeliner as a sample, which is a good thing… because I LOVE IT! This has to be one of the best liquid eyeliners I’ve ever used and it ranks up there with DollyWink and Stila. The application is superb and effortless. Tugging is not in the vocabulary.

4. Promise Organic Nourishing Coconut Milk Face Lotion with Hibiscus

img_7609

This is my second exposure to Promise Organic. In one of my previous glambags, I’ve gotten a similar face lotion but instead of coconut milk, it was laced with lemon. I’ve been using that in my morning routine to moisturize my face before BB cream application, and so far, I’ve found it to be very effective at keeping the dry skin at bay. Hence, I’m looking forward to trying out this coconut one.

5. INSPR Duo Brow Powder in Dark Brown

img_7611

This brand name always sends my brain into a haze because it reads as INSPIGHDGJKDSDG at first but it’s actually inspire without the “i” or the “e.” I’ve never gotten brow powder before since I always use brow pencils as part of my routine. For the past few months, I’ve been contemplating on buying the Anastasia brow pomade. But now that this is here, I guess I’ll move that idea to the back burner for a while.

What are your thoughts on this month’s Ipsy glambag? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading!
